How to Prepare Russian Salad

Edited by DjMocca, Meg, Jordan, Nicoletta Z. and 4 others
Russian salad is a very tasty mixture of mayonnaise, ham, boiled potatoes and other vegetables. It's particularly suitable for eating during winter.

Edit Steps

  1. 1
Boil the potatoes and carrots. Drain thoroughly and dice them into small pieces.
  2. 2
Dice the ham or salami and put it in the bowl too.
  3. 3
Take the gherkins and try to squeeze the water from them as much as you can without actually smashing them.
  4. 4
Dice the gherkins and add to the mixture in the bowl.
  5. 5
Put the peas in the bowl too, but be careful not to add too much.
  6. 6
Add mayonnaise and stir very well until you have a very even mixture.
  7. 7
Boil the eggs and after that grate them into tiny pieces. Sprinkle the eggs over the mixture and the salad is ready.
  8. 8
Add salt but not too much, the gherkins will be salty enough.
  9. 9
Leave in the bowl and put in a fridge for about 30 minutes.
  10. 10
Serve by making scoops of the mixture and arranging them in a long plate.
